Regulation of Property Management Scrapped
The government has recently announced that the regulation of Residential Property Managers bill which was introduced by the previous Government is not going ahead.
The bill required Property Managers to obtain a qualification, adhere to a professional standard of practice and included an independent disputes process including potential penalties for non compliance.
The bill had received mixed reactions from the industry, with some seeing the move as a positive way to improve the standards within the industry but others questioning why private landlords were not included given they manage a large portion of the rental property pool nationally.
